The Global Media Studies network is a cluster of world-leading research institutes and centres who share a concern with emerging trends, patterns and forms of media, communications and culture in a global context. The network is interdisciplinary, including colleagues from across the social sciences and humanities, from communication and media studies, cultural studies, political communications to cultural sociology.
The network aims to:
- Be a global hub for academics, students, media practitioners, and others to explore and discuss media and communication technologies, cultures, and industries in an international, comparative, and historical fashion.
- Foster collaborative research projects in these areas;
- Bring in new international partners who are committed to developing sustained collaborative research relationships in the area of global media studies over the long term;
- Facilitate an ongoing international programme of activities which foster dialogue around pressing contemporary issues for global media research;
- Support and cultivate the next generation of global media scholars through doctoral training activities.
